INSTRUCTIONS
MIB
"
You are to utilize your character design to create a stylized character
block-out where you have to demonstrate anatomy studies applied in your
digital sculpting. Characters can be human, any form of biped creatures or
hybrid, or quadrupeds. Sculpture should capture as the listed components
below:
- Proportion
- Character identity and believability
- Theme
- Readable silhouette
- Identical Landmarks
- Initiated Style
- Muscle Flow
"
Character Design:
Sculpting in ZBrush:
Step 1: Create a skeleton-like base using simple shapes. Move the shapes using
the move brush to match the anatomy.
*My character will be muscular so the muscles are the spotlight, thus I put
in more effort into making the muscles look good.
"Focus on creating the base shapes. Try not to do too much details at this stage."
REFLECTION
In my opinion, the blockout this crucial for the development of the 3D model. It acts as a foundation for the other elements which will be placed on top of this base. It is also important to get the anatomy and scale right at this stage, as it will affect the process further down the road.
