INSTRUCTIONS

Task 1 - Project Proposal

In this semester, I am required to work together with peers from other specialization or courses to produce an innovative project that showcases all our different set of skills. 

For our group, our client is R&D Studios that would like our help in producing concept artworks for their upcoming animated movie - Sang Guardians. Our tasks are as below: 

1. Concept art for SG girls' bedrooms (interior) (x3)
2. Character design of each SG girls' Buni (x4)
3. Concept art for dessert house (interior) (x1)
4. Character design of Salmah's mother (x1)

After looking for group members, we have members from various specializations including graphic design, entertainment design and ui/ux. 

Then, we had our first meeting with our client, Ms. Han who explained to us how we should go about with the tasks. So, we split the tasks among the 5 of us.

3. Trinity - Character design of each SG girls' Buni
4. Lee Ren - Concept art for dessert house
5. Hadiya - Character design of Salmah's mother

After splitting the workload, we begin to work on our contextual research. The point of doing contextual research is to look at how successful animation studios out there do things. We specifically looked at cartoons/animated shows that have a similar art style as Sang Guardians.

Next, we created four personas based on our potential target audience.

With all the contextual research done, we now have a good idea on how we should go about starting this project. However, we needed to conduct first hand research with our target audience. Initially, we wanted to do an online survey via google forms as we can reach many respondents with this method. However, we think it might not be the most suitable to conduct interviews instead as our participants are kids around the age of 10. 

Below is our interview questions in the form of a colourful slideshow to get kids' attention.

We have a total of 10 participants that we think are suitable and will give helpful opinions.

Upon completion of all the interviews, we compiled all the results into a document. 

Then, we did an analysis for the data collected. 

Task 2 - Design Execution

At this stage, we are clear on what we should produce as we have done enough research and data analysis. Before moving on to the drawing board, we filled in some information in Miro that will further assist us in the process.

After compiling and finalizing each of our produced artwork, we presented the final product to Ms Han.
